National ranges, source by source
Each figure below comes from a named price guide. They disagree, and we show the spread instead of picking one.
- Thumbtack, epoxy: 1703-3280 (typical 2370) USD1.
- This Old House, professional epoxy: 3-12 USD per sq ft2.
- This Old House, garage article: 4.05 USD per sq ft3 for an epoxy coating.
- Angi, professional epoxy: 2-12 USD per sq ft4.
- HomeAdvisor, professional garage epoxy: 1650-3494 (typical 2526) USD5.
- A kit seller (vendor), polyaspartic: 7 USD per sq ft6 to 12 USD per sq ft6. The seller sells do-it-yourself kits, so this is not an independent guide. We found no recent independent guide that prices polyaspartic per square foot, so this is the only polyaspartic rate shown.
What moves the price
- Size. Guides price by the square foot, so a bigger garage costs more.
- Prep. Grinding, crack repair and spall repair change the job. Heavy prep costs more, and we hold no verified price for it.
- Coating thickness and system. Thin epoxy, thick epoxy, flake and polyaspartic are different products with different prices.
- Moisture. A slab that tests wet needs a plan before any coating. This Old House lists a vapor barrier or moisture-mitigation system at 2 USD per sq ft3 to 10 USD per sq ft3 extra.
- Flake. A kit seller (vendor) estimates a professionally installed flake (chip) epoxy system at 5 USD per sq ft6 to 9 USD per sq ft6. It is the only flake price we have read.
What a garage might cost
Guides also show size examples. Thumbtack prices a double garage of 400 to 450 square feet at $1,200 to $1,463 1.
- Our arithmetic for 400 to 500 sq ft of epoxy (epoxy 1200-6000; polyaspartic 2800-6000 USD1): about $1,200 to $6,000.
- Our arithmetic for 400 to 500 sq ft of polyaspartic (epoxy 1200-6000; polyaspartic 2800-6000 USD1): about $2,800 to $6,000, from the kit seller's rates.
- Our arithmetic from 3-12 USD per sq ft2: 400 square feet of epoxy comes to $1,200 to $4,800.
- Our arithmetic from 4.05 USD per sq ft3: 400 square feet comes to about $1,620.
None of these is a Sarasota quote, and your slab may need more prep than the examples assume.
How to compare quotes
- Ask for the scope in writing: prep method, crack repair, moisture test, system, cure time and price.
- Ask which square feet the price covers.
- Ask for the warranty exclusions in writing. Moisture, hot-tire marks, impact and fluids are the ones to ask about.
- Be wary of a price that skips the moisture test.
Before you price: water and rules
If your garage took on water, read the storm and moisture guide first. Ask about permits and HOA rules too: see the permits and HOA guide.

Questions people ask
How much does it cost to epoxy a garage floor in Sarasota?
We have no Sarasota quotes yet. Nationally, This Old House lists professional epoxy at 3-12 USD per sq ft2, and Thumbtack lists 1703-3280 (typical 2370) USD1. A real price for your slab needs an installer to see it, so ask for the scope and price in writing.
Why do the price guides disagree?
They describe different jobs: thin or thick coats and light or heavy prep. We cannot tell which job each one priced. Angi lists 2-12 USD per sq ft4, and HomeAdvisor lists 1650-3494 (typical 2526) USD5 for a garage job.
Is polyaspartic worth the extra cost?
A kit seller (vendor) estimates professional polyaspartic at 7 USD per sq ft6 to 12 USD per sq ft6, which overlaps the epoxy ranges above. Claims that it lasts longer come from makers and installers, and we found no independent test data. Compare the written scope and warranty on each quote.
