Polyaspartic garage floors in Sarasota
SRQ Garage Floors is a guide run by Terragroupe, LLC. We do not install anything and we are not booking jobs yet.
Polyaspartic data sheets set a dew-point margin and a humidity cap, and Gulf-coast mornings can sit close to that margin. At the nearest NOAA station with dew point data, the 6 a.m. air temperature is within 5 F of the dew point on 279 days per year1. That station is in St Petersburg, not Sarasota, so treat the figure as a guide.

What the data sheet asks for
One maker's polyaspartic topcoat data sheet (a vendor source) asks for the slab to stay at least 5 F above the dew point and for the air to stay at or under 75% humidity during application and cure 2.
The same sheet lists cure times at 68 F: about 4 hours to foot traffic, about 8 hours to light traffic and about 5 days to full cure 2.
A garage-market polyaspartic base coat sheet (vendor) is more specific about cars. It lists vehicles after 24 hours at 72 F and 50% humidity, with a recoat window of 2 to 12 hours 3.
The sheet also markets the coating for hot-tire and UV resistance. Those are maker claims, and we found no independent test data. Treat them as claims to ask about.
How close Gulf-coast mornings run to that limit
At St Petersburg International Airport, about 41 miles north of Sarasota, the muggiest month is August, with a mean dew point of 74.7 F (Aug)1. That is the nearest NOAA hourly-normals station with dew point data, and it is not a Sarasota reading.
The mean dew point there is 70 F or higher on 128 days per year1 (our arithmetic over the 365 days of NOAA normals).
At 6 a.m., the normal air temperature is within 5 F of the normal dew point on 279 days per year1. That is the margin the data sheet asks the slab to clear. Air temperature stands in for slab temperature here, and a garage slab can differ.
What polyaspartic costs
A kit seller (vendor) estimates professional polyaspartic at 7 USD per sq ft4 to 12 USD per sq ft4. Our arithmetic from that range: 400 square feet comes to $2,800 to $4,800.
The seller sells do-it-yourself kits, and we found no recent independent guide that prices polyaspartic per square foot. This is a national range, not Sarasota quotes. Try the Garage Floor Price Estimator or read the cost guide.
Questions to ask before you choose it
- How will you check the dew point and humidity on the day, and what do you do if the window closes?
- What is the cure time in writing, and when can cars go back in?
- Which claims come from the maker, and which come from your own jobs?
- What does the warranty leave out?

Ask any installer to put the workmanship term in your written scope. We will publish an installer's term here if one signs.

Questions people ask
Is polyaspartic better than epoxy in Florida?
We cannot say. Claims that it holds up better in heat, humidity and sun come from installers and makers, and we found no independent test data. Compare the data sheets, the prep and the written warranty on each quote instead.
Can polyaspartic go on a damp slab?
Not before a moisture test. Ground moisture can move up through a slab 5, and the data sheet's humidity cap covers the air, not the concrete. Ask for the test result in writing.
